Social Media can give the Internet a soul. Sometimes someone shares something that really goes under your skin. It moves me, I get emotional and sometimes I even cry. Through this I am able to truly connect to someone.
The Internet is not a cold, rational place where we share information. It was seen like that in the early days of Web 1.0. We now arrived at version 2.0 and it is now all about interaction. About people sharing stories, sharing feelings, sharing their joy and their pain. We can empathize with them, send them our support and prayers. Doing this, we can make the Internet a place where people find comfort.
Joe McClane shared a video on Twitter that he watched, which was so beautiful that it made him cry. So I watched the video. I had to cry, too. This is why I am sharing the video on my blog as well, because it’s not only a testimony to life, but also a testimony that the Internet does indeed have a soul.
I think it’s awesome how this couple celebrates life and shares it in this way on the internet. I have seen the video being shared many times using social networks.
Giving Social Media a Soul
This short video accomplishes what long speeches, rallies and what not cannot: it moves you. I think this little boy and his parents have moved a lot of hearts showing how a life never is useless. This is very real and very deep and shows how powerful a message communicated on the internet can be. Eliott, I’m proud of you!
